Project Summary
Background
Pythia Koinsep is a social cooperative, with the mission to its statute to offer educational, cultural, touristic development, social and athletic activities at the local citizens of Kavala, Drama and Serres region. One of our main pylons is the Social Inclusion and we aim to find all necessary ways and means to tackle social and economic challenges and help local people to fulfill their needs. Insufficient physical activity is a leading risk factor for non-communicable diseases and can also negatively affect mental health and quality of life.
After COVID-19 pandemia, there has been a growing understanding that access to and participation in sport and physical education is not only a right but can be used to promote numerous important goals as leadership, self confidence, respect and social networking. All areas of development can be influenced by sport, including health, education, employment, social inclusion, political development and mental health.
Objectives
The project is foreseen to address the priority “inclusion and diversity” and its goal is to engage women, more specific from migrants and disadvantaged background, to participate in sports and more specific in Catchball, including indoor and outdoor activities and to create a European network of staff and volunteers as a base for future projects and for enabling women to focus on recreational sports. As there is focus on professional sports we aim to give them another option to engage women in sports.
Through its conception, but much more through its deployment, the project will create synergies between the different Erasmus+ fields of education, training, youth and sport, as every one of these fields has a resonance within project’s activities. Another objective is the gender equality and to fight discrimination on women over 40 by promoting Catchball as a tool for social inclusion and good mendal heath.
Activities
Ten participants and two accompanying person will visit sport hall ASE in Romania. All are familiar with the training field and ready to participate in the project. A five days observation period will take place in Sport Hall ASE, in Romania.
Day 1: Observation period, Get to know and Study Visit, Dissemination Event and Social Media Campain
Day 2: Presentation and General Rules, manual of game, design of workshop for Catchball
Day 3: Morning and afternoon - Organise and participation event with Catchball activities
Day 4: Morning and afternoon - Organise and participation event with Catchball activities
Day 5: Impact and evaluation of Catchball Activites among participants, how to get better round table discussion
Impact
The results will point out the importance of the social inclusion, especially for participants with fewer opportunities. From our project we expect impact on our participants, as they will interfere with a network of skilled trainers and we expect to achieve knowledge for this new sport. The project aspires to engage them in a network of teams among Greece, to train women from different cultural and religious background. That will contribute to their personal and socio-educational development and will potentially improve their employment prospects.
Secondly, we expect the results of our project to have impact on the defined target group. We define as trarget group all the women, as this is a female sport. In order to engage women we need to train the trainers of them. The cooperation between our trainers will improve the expertise and methods used to train, women from other cultures. Finally, we expect to have more women and result to recognition in Greece, to develop the Greek Fed.
